The STIB participates in the reception of Ukrainian refugees
The war in Ukraine has sadly marked the year 2022. Many refugees have come to Brussels to seek asylum. In order to help them, the Red Cross and Bruss'help have set up reception desks at the Gare du Midi (South Station) from March to August 2022.
During this period, the STIB has chartered buses which shuttled people from the Gare du Midi to the registration centre at the Heysel and, in the evening, dropped off people without housing solutions in accommodation facilities as determined by Fedasil and Bruss'help. Field staff from the STIB was present at the Gare du Midi and Heysel stations to accompany and help newcomers find their way around.
