Cargo bikes at the Belgrade workshop
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Belgrade workshop has hosted thousands of trams under repair. These activities have been moved to the new MCH maintenance centre in Haren in 2020. The Belgrade site will be renovated in early 2024.
While waiting for the construction to start, the building was made available to Urbike, following a call for projects. This cooperative is involved in greener urban logistics, replacing vans and light delivery trucks with cargo bikes.
Through this temporary occupation project, the STIB is contributing to improving mobility, air quality and the quality of life in Brussels, just as it does on a daily basis through its public transport activities.
