Eighteen M7 metro trains already in operation
The STIB had 18 M7 trains on its network at the end of 2022. The last 4 of the first order of 22 vehicles will also be put into service in 2023. CAF, the Spanish manufacturer, will then begin production of the second series of 21 new metro trains. Once delivered, 43 M7 metro trains will be running in Brussels.
The M7s offer many advantages to passengers: automatic door opening, LED lighting, large colour information screens, optimised seating arrangements, etc. The introduction of the M7s will also free up "Boa"-type metro trains for use by passengers on lines 2 and 6.
